Last night there was a lot of wind. I woke up with a lot of sand all over my CD player and blankets. I was actually cold if you can believe it although, the sand wasn’t that comfortable to sleep with. It was like little dust devils blowing over you all the time really quickly. Also, there were kids playing in the yard again. My host grandmother’s yard is kind of like a neighborhood park. There were about ten kids holding hands and running around in circles. It really wouldn’t have bothered me if I didn’t have to go to the bathroom! Why are kids up later than I am anyway? Why is it okay for them to be up past dark? Do they not have bed times like we did at their age? I guess there isn’t any danger for young girls walking home alone in the country here, when all the neighbors know each other and all the kids have been friends since they were born. But I wouldn’t let them stop me from getting to bed promptly at 9:00 p.m. every night. So, I went to the bathroom, without a door, with kids in the background. There is no privacy here. I think it was a big step for me because I did not let them stop me. If you were here, would you have waited?
